If your baby is expected on due date, then this might be the longest week to come an end for you. The last couple of weeks particularly if due date is passed are extremely disturbed for women. Different women have different of feelings in last weeks. There are women who experience some kind of hormonal feeling just as premenstrual tension; others may have some unusual feeling; and a desperate urge to clean and tidy things appear in some women.
Development in 40th Week Pregnancy
At 40 weeks pregnant, your baby is now ready to face the harshness of external world as majority of her organs are formed. The major development at birth time happens in the heart and lungs of your baby.
For instance, your baby is getting the necessary oxygen through placenta until this time and after birth when she takes her first breath, the blood present in the lungs oxygenated and the process of normal breathing initiated. In the initial few days, the baby has an irregular breathing pattern. At birth it would be around 50 per minute.
Appearance in 40th Week Pregnancy
As for appearance, the baby at this stage resembles a normal full term baby. She has grown in size and tightly curled up in the uterus. The babies which are born with breech position have their knees curled up to the chest for a day or two.
Movement in 40th Week Pregnancy
At 40 weeks pregnant, despite of limited space, your baby keeps shifting her positions from time to time. She also moves her head sideways in anticipation to find milk. She is listening to you and other family members from inside and is pretty much aware of your movements, activities and talking.
Common Pregnancy Symptoms
At week 40 of Pregnancy, following pregnancy symptoms have been reported:
- Breast tenderness and fullness and darkening of areola
- Frequent/Regular Urination
- Stretch Marks and Itching
- Constipation, Indigestion and Headaches
- Round Ligament Pains
