At 31 weeks pregnant, your baby is growing at rapid pace. She is now measure about a size of a stick of celery. She is active and energetic and pretty much aware of her surroundings as well as the noises from the external world. She has now become used to of your daily activities such as exercising, talking, singing, listening to music, and change in light. The most familiar voice for her at this stage is yours. So talk to her every so often as she is listening to you.

Development in 31st Week Pregnancy

The lungs of your baby continue to develop. The cells layering the air sacs are now producing a substance called surfactant. This particular substance keep the tissues present in the lungs from sticking with each other. Surfactant is an important substance that makes your baby breathes comfortably in the external environment.

Blood vessels seemed to be invisible as this time the coating of subcutaneous fats goes thicker. Child’s skin looks improved and not dark or radish as seemed previous in the conception. The baby’s face looks round and plump and skin in especially smoother. The fat deposits under her skin make up for 3.5 percent of her total weight. This will increase to 15 percent by the time she is born.

Movement in 31st Week Pregnancy

At 31 weeks pregnant, baby seems to be very active as becoming more alert of stimulus, react to sounds and movements. He can even sense when mother have a Braxton Hicks reduction- that normally no cause any damage for him but baby seemed to be insecure. As now his’ living conditions’ are restricted due to increased size mostly he will have chin on his chest, crossed arms his chest and knees bent up. He has at least 10 movements in a day although he has less space than earlier.

Common Pregnancy Symptoms

Pregnant women have reported following pregnancy symptoms in week 31:

  • Breast tenderness and fullness and darkening of areola
  • Frequent/Regular Urination
  • Stretch Marks and Itching
  • Constipation, Indigestion and Headaches
  • Round Ligament Pains
  • Hemorrhoids
