At 22 weeks pregnant, your baby will now grow to the size of large banana and is big enough to hold in the palm of a hand. The position of your baby is determined by your midwife by touching or feeling your abdomen. Although, it is too early to determine the position of your baby as she will take different positions in coming weeks.
Development in 22nd Week Pregnancy
All the organs of your baby are maturing. Similarly, her sense of touch is also getting mature over the weeks. she will start touching her hands, sucking her thumb, crossing and uncrossing her legs, bending her head down to touch with her hands etc. Your baby also learns how to move her limbs.
If you are expecting twins then an ultrasound scan will show you how both of them are touching and responding to each other.
Appearance in 22nd Week Pregnancy
Although, the fat deposits build under skin are not sufficient at this stage, her skin appears to be loose and slack. The nails on her fingers and toes are still developing. The appearance of lines and creases on her palms is the major change at this stage of pregnancy.
Movement in 22nd Week Pregnancy
At 22 weeks pregnant, you will start feeling the movements of your baby. You will notice that your baby respond vigorously to loud noises and sounds. Loud noises or music makes your baby startles within the uterus. If you don’t feel any movements at all from your baby, don’t be alarmed as this is natural and your baby may not be in mood to have some fun at that time. Your baby has now developed a proper sleeping and awaking patterns.
Common Pregnancy Symptoms
You may experience following pregnancy symptoms in week 22:
- Breast tenderness and fullness
- Darkening of areola
- Frequent/Regular Urination
- Stretch Marks and Itching
- Indigestion and Headaches
- Round Ligament Pains
