At 20 weeks pregnant, you will have a baby about half the length of full-term baby. Your baby has a size of a small mango at this stage and weighs around 300 grams or 10.6 oz. The development and growth of your baby slows down from this point onwards and those fat deposits will result in an increase of 50 grams a week. You are almost the half way mark of your pregnancy.

Development in 20th Week Pregnancy

At this stage, the major development and growth is happening in lungs, digestive system and immune system. Every 24 hours, kidneys are passing about 7 to 17 ml of urine. Her senses are also developing with the growth of her brain cells. You can even hear her heartbeat with the help of stethoscope.

Your baby has large eyes and fused shut. However, you can observe the sideways movements of eyes through an ultrasound scan. Your baby still has a thin, fragile skin due to insufficient fat deposits. The eyebrows and eyelashes become more defined and the numbers of hair on her head also increase. Her legs are also getting in proportion to the body.

Movement in 20th Week Pregnancy

At 20 weeks pregnant, nervous system is developing rapidly as this is obvious from her ability to coordinate her movements. She is active and energetic.

Common Pregnancy Symptoms

Following are the common symptoms you may experience in week 20:

  • Breast tenderness and fullness
  • Darkening of areola
  • Frequent/Regular Urination
  • Stretch Marks and Itching
  • Constipation
  • Indigestion and Headaches
